I was not there long, but one thing I do remember well was Blackie McBlackerson and how hard he tried to help those of us that were losing our jobs. He was one of the greatest guys there when I worked for St Pete. And yes, he was incredibly black. Probably the blackest black man I ever saw. I mean, wouldn't it be contradictory for you to support Dumb and Dumber all these past years when they didn't think it was worth it to provide a Christmas party for the members and then show up like homeless waifs with your hand out for free food and drink at this one? You can't and shouldn't have it both ways. So I would think it would be a little, and probably a lot, wrong for you to take advantage of the goodness of the Local's leadership and worm your way into something that you who didn't think was worth having for many years agreed with doing away with in an attempt to curry love from Mr. Blank. Of course, I'm aware that the current leadership would ask for so called "calmer heads" to prevail and to ignore the past stupidity of the leadership of the Local. It's Christmas time and we should all be in a forgiving mood.
And ordinarily that would apply. But this Christmas is a little tougher for all the members of this Local after enduring so many years of failure and ignorance on the part of the past leadership. We all find ourselves just a little lighter in the wallet than we should and could have been. And then there's the list of other things that the past leadership has failed to strengthen. The membership has been so stagnated for the past four years it will take at least that long to recuperate. So while this Christmas party is for everyone including the Dumb and his supporters it would be less than appropriate for them to attend.
